On the third Sundy of July, Hope transforms into a state-wide destination for runners, both young and old, to recreate the wagon trail journey of the original gold miners. This fun run is a 5K up and down dirty rugged trails and woods starting in downtown Hope and looping right back. Participants receive commemorative shirts, and awards are announced in a wide variety of categories after the finale (including a 90 year old who won "Most Mature").
The event often includes a parade of vintage cars, a pancake feed for breakfast as well as a BBQ in the afternoon, and the famous 25 cent cake walk.
